Hi guys, I am new to the sharepoint. Any idea to fix this problem? 0. in a subsite of Sharepoint service 3.0 -. I gave a user Contributor level access - delete, add, update and read items at the site top level. the sub site has the same access configured. Contributor View, Insert, edit, delete items. -. I added a document to the site. -, I can edit and delete the doucment. but the user with Contributor can not edit or delete any documents in the site even if he owns them. -. I as a site administratorcan edit/delete/read those documents in the site. -. None of contributors can delete/edit documents in the site. they got an error message below. "access denied. you do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource. you can request below that the owner give you access to the resource. Request Access. You are currently loggied in as: xx\oliver complete your request and then click send request..... " How can I give people to delete/edit right to the site? Thanks Oli

Maybe there is a web application policy overiding your local site policy? You're sure that the subsite is inheriting permission from the top site? This issue sounds vaguely similar to something I blogged about, but it related to task lists. Maybe something in that blog entry will trigger a thought: http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PaulGalvinsSharepointSpace/~3/202559293/cns!1CC1EDB3DAA9B8AA!539.entry --Paul Galvin, Conchango RSS @ http://feeds.feedburner.com/PaulGalvinsSharepointSpace Web site @ http://paulgalvin.spaces.live.com

Hi Thanks for your feedback. I checked the local policy and inheriting permission etc and they seem to be ok. Inheriting is not enabled. For example, there are a number of site collections under http://mycompany_intranet/sites/*. but only one site collection hasthe problem. I checked the wss and its version is 2.0 coming with sharepoint 2003. Thanks

I have too experienced this issue and have found that an account migration using stsadmn has resolved it. I will add though, I have had experience whereby one particular user had issues whereby they would have the permissions for a day or so and then lose them again, despite still having the correct group membership. The only way I could resolve this issue was to have a new AD account created. This user has been using the new account for in excess of two months with no issues whatsoever. Perhaps a corrupt AD account? Kind regards, Kev
