XP x64 client - ccmcore.dll failed to register
Hello, I'm starting to see a trend with my Windows XP x64 clients. During the client install, ccmsetup.log is dishing out a:"MSI: Module C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\CCM\x64\ccmcore.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024703."it then fails the client install with:"Installation failed with error code 1603"I manage multiple detached networks and two of the networks are seeing this error. Neither of these networks communicate to one another. One network is running SCCM SP2 on Windows Server 2008 SP2 x64 and the other is Windows 2003 R2 x64. Again, the same erro on both networks but appears to be limited to XP x64 clients.Event log from the XP x64 machines:Product: Configuration Manager Client -- Error 1904. Module C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\CCM\x64\ccmcore.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024703.I can't find anything on the forums or BING/GOOGLE. Ideas?

Hi,Your Windows XP x64 must be S2 or later. If your OS is RTM or SP1, update it and try installing sccm client again. So, if your windows xp x64 is SP2 or later and the pb still exist, then check wmi on your client machine (computer management/services and applications/WMI Control, and properties). Thank you for responding. I verified that they are indeed SP2 and didn't see any WMI errors but rebuilt the WMI repository anyways. I am still getting the same error.

Hi, So, try to manually register ccmcore.dll, for this : uninstall ConfigMgr client on Win XP x64 machine : ccmsetup /uninstall Then, lunch this command : regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\CCM\x64\ccmcore.dll And try to install the sccm client again. I did try manually registering oringinally but when the client fails to install, it removes all the source files including the ccmcore.dll. So, ccmcore.dll doesn't reside on the system after failing to install the client or at least not that I can see. The only thing left in the CCm directory is related to inventory and that's only if the client was functioning at one time or another.

I am having the exact same issue, with the exact same errors and sequences...I have tried repairing WMI, uninstalled/reinstalled MSXML6, still getting the cannot register ccmcore.dll "MSI: Module C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\CCM\x64\ccmcore.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024703." client.msi.log shows this: MSI (s) (4C:18) [17:20:08:906]: Executing op: ActionStart(Name=SelfRegModules,Description=Registering modules,Template=File: [1], Folder: [2]) MSI (s) (4C:18) [17:20:08:906]: Executing op: ProgressTotal(Total=35,Type=1,ByteEquivalent=1300000) MSI (s) (4C:18) [17:20:08:906]: Executing op: SetTargetFolder(Folder=C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\CCM\x64\) MSI (s) (4C:18) [17:20:08:906]: Executing op: RegSelfReg(File=ccmcore.dll,FileID=ccmcore_dll.85FAFD7A_7B68_4721_ABD2_F18C6E010F75) MSI (s) (4C:18) [17:20:08:922]: Product: Configuration Manager Client -- Error 1904. HI, thanks for the reply. The problem i have is that when the rollback process initiates, it deletes the binaries it installed and i am not left with the ccmcore.dll to manually register. I have tried timing it just right so that my "regsvr32 ccmcore.dll" is run during the install process while the file is in the CCM folder but that didnt work either. The ccmsetup.log file is giving errors referenced above. The client.msi.log file is also referenced above. This is still an issue and we can come up with no resolution. Any other ideas?

Hi, Have you tried on other WXP x64 machines ? I think it is not a problem related to sccm, but some sort of a xp corruption issue ... to confirm this, can you try installing the sccm client on other XP-x64 machines or can you try on a test vm ? If the installation will complete successfully, I suggest you to open a thread on windows xp forum : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsxpitpro Regards.Bechir Gharbi. RESOLVED: 1) I reinstalled SP2 for 64 bit Windows XP. 2) I reinstalled MSXML 4.0 3) I reinstalled MSXML 6.0 Parser One of the three or a combination of all three resolved my issue. I was able to get past the ccmcore.dll register errors and the client installed without a problem Just an FYI for anybody else out there with a similar issue
