My current WSUS server is running on 2008 R2 OS.  Need to upgrade OS to 2012 and deploy and configure WSUS from scratch.

New WSUS server download all updates, it almost 12 GB. My question is that, when my client sync with new WSUS server, client will install all KB from start or only the pending KB.

Or is there any option in DB to export the meta data of client details.( ie, which patches are already updated  on the each client) and import to new WSUS.

Please help.....................

Clients will check in and evaluate  which updates need to be installed (which are applicable) and which aren't taking in to account rules in the packages and approvals.

So, if clients had previously installed updates from MU or another WSUS server, they won't install them again. 

If you want to migrate info from an old WSUS to a new one, there are detailed steps covering planning, the actual migration, etc

if you are doing a migration, it would be worth running the cleanup wizard first, as well as making sure that you  have any unnecessary updates declined etc.
