Workgrup client to SCCM server registration request fails i.e. communication error
Dear, The existing environ: WIN 7 profl edition as SCCM client in a WORKGROUP in the same domain of SCCM site server. SCCM SP2 server in a domain with SLP, MP. I have made the mlhost entry in the client with SMS_SLP and SMS_MP. For resolving to & fro to site server %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\host also edited. The cmd line used for manual installation at client: CCMsetup.exe /source:<...> /mp:< ....> /noservice SMSPUBLICROOTKEY=<...3....> RESETKEYINFORMATION=TRUE SMSSITECODE=<> CCMDEBUGLOGGING=1 CCMENABLELOGGING=TRUE CCMLOGLEVEL=3 SMSMP=<....> SMSSLP=<Ip address>. In the site server local admi of client also has been configured for client push a/c.; Network detection also enabled. Site server is automatically published to AD domain, and MP is published to DNS. Using the Network Access Acount user ID from the client I could connect to server and view files. Simillarly I could connect the admin$ share of client using client’s local admin ID from server. Problem: The CLIENTidMANAGERSETUP.LOG gives error 0x80040231 (as below), could not register. The host name is not visible in the site server console. <![LOG[RegTask: Failed to send registration request message. Now my requirement is to do package installation and inventory collection and site server policy deployment. Since the client registration is failed, so client installation seems not success. \..\ddm.box\BAD_DDR folder is empty. Pls kindly suggest what else I should do to accomplish my need to manage the client in WORKSTATION. Expecting Ur valuable suggestions.

Does the MP work at all? Have you tried running mplist and mpcert? Does it work for domain-joined clients?Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Dear Torsten, The MP is a working setup only; domain - joined clients were able to join to the MP. Now inorder to trouble shoot the WINDOWS 7 clients' RDP disconnection, "SMS Agent Host" service has been disabled & stopped in the GP. Hope this will affect only domain connected clients. My scope is restricted to manage the WINdows 7 client in WORKGROUP, to simulate the above RDP disconnection problem. On running, the below from the client I get HTTP 500 Internal Error. HTTP://SISCHNSMS-01:443/SMS_MP/.SMS_AUT?MPCERT HTTP://SISCHNSMS-01:443/SMS_MP/.SMS_AUT?MPLIST But I could connect to the same server and view SMS reports. By the by, on replying to Mr.AnoopNair, on these client & Server Windows Firewall service is disabled , and are in the same network. Expecting Ur reply.

I don't know why do you've GP to disable "SMS Agent Host" service? I have tried to run the same above cmd without ":443 or :80" , that returned as HTTP 404 error. "SMS Agent Host" service has been disabled to disable all domain connected clients from connecting to the SCCM server, as the windows 7 clients give RDP disconnection often. Thereby , I am trying to simulate the problem on client connected to WORKSTATION in the same network.

If you disable SMS agent Host service then the configmgr client won't work at all.Anoop C Nair - @anoopmannur MY BLOG: http://anoopmannur.wordpress.com User Group: ConfigMgr Professionals This posting is provided AS-IS with no warranties/guarantees and confers no rights.

The ConfigMgr client has most likely nothing to do with RDP disconnections. Have you also stoppped/disabled the SMS Agent Host on the MP? That would break the MP.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

HTTP://SISCHNSMS-01:443/SMS_MP/.SMS_AUT?MPCERT HTTP://SISCHNSMS-01:443/SMS_MP/.SMS_AUT?MPLIST Your site is in native mode?

Dear, Sorry for the delay. As an alternative try, I have moved the test-client to the site's domain from WORGROUP and then to an OU in AD which will not apply GP. The "Group Policy Client" - service in the same test client has been disabled to prevent GP being applied. Now, the SMS Agent service in the test client is always started mode. After I reinstall the client through CLIENT PUSH from Site server, the very same earlier errors posted above only reapper. In response to Mr.bobgreen84, it is in mixed mode from the begining. Dear Mr.Torsten Meringer, Remote Tool Client Agent was enabled at the site settings, earlier. After uninstalling the SCCM client in a WIN 7 client , that did recover from the rdp disconnection. So, would like to to simulate the same in test PC, before re-enabling the SMS Agent Host service in AD-GPO. So, so-far the site server's SMS Agent Host Service is also in the state of disabled state, assuming that this service infulencing the client function of server only. Shall I move the server (with MP) also to the same OU (GPO unaffected) to enable the SMS Agent to be in STARTED mode. Expecting Ur reply ASAP. Thanks.

Have you tried installing the client manually?Anoop C Nair - @anoopmannur MY BLOG: http://anoopmannur.wordpress.com User Group: ConfigMgr Professionals This posting is provided AS-IS with no warranties/guarantees and confers no rights.

Dear, After one day, the sms agent host service at site server is STARTED mode for 5 minutes, afterwards need to manually restarted. During this time when I try to repaire any component eg:"CCM Policy Agent" or trigger to initiate any action in the Client Properties, I get the same earlier error log as posted at begining. Pls Advice.
