WorkFlow doesn't start automatically

Hello Everyone,

I have a trouble with a workflow in my SharePoint list.

I've created a workflow based on SharePoint 2013 Workflow in SharePoint Designer, published it and created a new item in the list. But, the workflow doesn't start!!

I have already check if it is running with a System Account, and it is not!! (Of course, I marked the option "Start automatically when a item is created").

Does anyone can help me?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Hi,

Please check the permission of user who initiated the workflow. Check the workflow logs to find out.

Hello Leandro,

Make sure you are testing the workflow in the correct list and check it in workflow setting whether same workflow is attached with list or not.......

Mark it as answer if it is helpful.

Hello Leandro,

Here are couple things you can try:
Login with a different user and try to start workflow, maybe it doesnt start because of permissions;
Republish the workflow and try again;
Try to use workflow on a different list;
Also you can take a look at this article about troubleshooting SharePoint 2013 workflows:

Thank you

Hello everyone! Thanks for your replies.

The user used to start the workflow has the right permissions.. It's a site collection administrator.

In the last week, we could start the workflow only once. Right now, the workflow is getting the same error.

In the logs we can't find nothing !!

Thanks for all,

Try to include logging at every step atleast to figure out where/at what point is the workflow failing.

Check if there are any messed up email references or any missing fields in your workflow.

Hi Bharath,

The problem is that the workflow doesn't start! If I create a new list item by the "New item" button, it works. But, if I try to create a new item by a other workflow in an other list, it doesn't start.

Do you know other ways ?

Hello Leandro,

I understand you have 2 workflows, WF1 creates an item on List1, List1 has WF2 and it is supposed to start when a new item is created, but it never starts.

This was an intentional change in SharePoint 2013 April/June CU to prevent workflow recursion but it didnt allow above scenario to work.

This problem has been addressed with the release of SP2013 May, 2014 CU. It is possible to use the new REST APIs to trigger the other workflow using HttpSend action/activity.

This article explains how to resolve this issue in detail by using the REST APIs released through SP2013 May, 2014 Cumulative Update:

SP 2013 May Cumulative Update 2014:

Thank you
