Windows only booting to a blinking cursor

My computer was working fine after updating from windows 7 to windows 10. The next morning after I did the update I found my computer running after putting it in sleep mode the previous night. I guess it started up to do an update or something. I put it back into sleep mode. Later that day i was checking if all my installed programs was working. I noticed it was running a little slow and i rebooted it. The bios loads, sees the hard drives and then It just boots to a blinking cursor.

I downloaded windows 10 install disc from another computer from the Microsoft site and  ran all the options in the Repair options. I get messages like "The drive where windows is installed is locked", "cannot do the repair" " Cannot restore your computer". I get  a message that the computer needs to get rebooted to finish a repair when i run sfc/scannow. I ran a chkdsk/f c: successfully.

After trying for hours it suddenly gave me a different message. The message was something like "It was busy doing repairs and it might take more than an hour". I tried to reboot after that but still no luck. I ran the repair option again and i noticed that it wrote a log file to my F drive and it was seeing Win 10 Pro now. When I disconnect my F drive it does not see WIN 10 pro anymore.  It is still booting only to the cursor.

My C drive(the boot drive) is a RAID drive(2 drives mirrored) and i have an F drive. I don't know?? but it seems like its not seeing the right drive. When i use one of the options to restore from a disk I can see the drives and it looks like all my files that previously before the update was in C are now in the E: drive.

I remember there was an Microsoft update for RAID drives for win 7 a long time ago that did the same thing to my computer. I think i managed to uninstall the update. Could it be that windows did the same update the night my computer woke up by itself?

Any help will be appreciated

I spoke to a Microsoft representative tonight and he could not help me. I connected one of my mirrored hard drives to another computer and All my programs in my program Files and program files (x86) directories + windows and "windows old" are gone...where are they? My computer is totally worthless right now!!

Hi,

Firstly, since you can attach the system drive to other computer, please access to the path below to check if Pending.xml file was there, if that it is, try to remove it and start your computer for test.

C:\Windows\winsxs\Pending.xml

Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now
