Windows XP to Windows 7 Migration

We are facing issues during migration from Windows XP to Windows 7.

The task sequence fails after installing windows. Windows 7 failing to start, rebooting at the screen where it reads "Setting up your computer for first use".

The TS runs as follows:

Capture User state

The user state is success fully being captured to the state migration point.

Deploy OS

XP machine restarts in PXE after installing the TS from Software Center.

Applies OS image.

Windows 7 loads drivers and sets up the machine, but at the screen where it reads "Setting your computer for first use" it fails with the error --> Screen Shot Attached.

This process is the same as normal deployment, which completes without any errors(without USMT). But with state capture, it fails at this stage.

What I understand is that the restoration starts after Windows 7 starts but it fails to reach there.

I an unable to find any error messages in the log files. SMSTS.log. Any other log files need to be analysed?

Please suggest where it is going wrong.

At this point, the TS engine isn't actually running or responsible for any activity. This is an error from Windows setup so you need to look at the Windows setup logs.

Agreed, this is a problem doesn't have anything to do with the user state capture or restore.  This is an issue with applying your windows image or possibly the network settings. Check the windows setup logs:  c:\windows\panther

I have seen this error before when the domain join (djoin.exe) process fails due to incorrect credentials or an unreachable domain.  You would see that error in the setup logs mentioned above.
