<P align=left><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hello: You,&nbsp; ..&nbsp;&nbsp; All ,</FONT></P><P align=left>&nbsp;I was looking around Microsoft website yesterday.just looking for anything of&nbsp; good uses when i seen this&nbsp; Windows Steady State program.Well i though i would give it a try.I downloaded it to desk-top.Scaned it,opened it.Read the instructions.saying to Defrag your hard-drive first,so to get a proper install.Did the defrag,then a file scan complete.Next opened an installed only the protect my hard-drive part.Did a reboot in there somewhere's.I needed to get my copy of windows accepted by microsoft again.. i said&nbsp; ? exactly.Well i did that.Registered an maybe set up a user.But dumb me or as it is said.I forgot to do my weekly Virus scan before installing this Windows Steady State.So i was just wondering what took the msn.com program,my Microsoft card games off my system,in there somewhere's.To make a long story short,i did a Virus scan today, AVG found '' ( 2 ) '' two viruses. ( Video Access Codec.OCX&nbsp; in backup files )Trojan horse Generic7.CEN&nbsp; 356kb(364544 )backup Copy&nbsp; ----- ( Objuct name:&nbsp; Uninstall.exe file size: 36.74 kb(37623)back up copy&nbsp; Trojan horse Downloader Zlob.ODP</P><P align=left>&nbsp;</P><P align=left>&nbsp;Well i turned off my system restore,an need to do a or an other Virus scan,one in safe-mode to be shore that i got them removed.So i am saying that&nbsp; i probly done a dumb thing&nbsp; installing&nbsp; any program with out first making shore my computer is clean.Sorry to waste your time with this post.. Thank you for the program. Hope i can get it&nbsp; set up in the proper order to get a clean PC. Hi Parridox,Thanks for sharing the experience of installing SteadyState.If you have Windows Disk Protection (WDP) enabled, you need to temporarily configure WDP to Retain all changes permanently to scan for viruses. The viruses will be removed from the WDP cache file. After removing all of them, we can restore WDP to Remove all changes at restart. Apart from defragging the hard drive and scanning the viruses, some other preparation tasks are also needed before the installation of SteadyState: 1. Configure display settings, and remove software that should not be available to any user profile. For shared systems, please clear the Internet History folders and delete files in My Documents. 2. Well i did not get the chance to reboot my computer after AVG deleted the 2 VIrus- horses that were in my computer.Just before doing this,i set the setting on the disk protect to the bottom box of the 3 three.Then i closed it.But i was thinking that i should of deleted it,but i did not.After deleting the Viruses,i then tried to restart my computer but it came up with the idea of a corrupted system.The system never rebooted but only would keep restarting.I had to delete it all out.So with that said i guess i will not be needing any Windows Steady Programs.I can say that it acted like a super FIREWALL ,that is i seen it doing.I will not be installing it again. Hi Parridox, I would like to confirm if there was any error message when the system corrupted. Please understand that corruption can be caused by several factors including hardware failure or corrupted/missing system files. From your description, it seems the system corrupted right after deleting the virus. Based on my experience, if the infected system files were deleted together with the virus, corruption may occur. I would like to say that AVG deleted the real copy.A virus runs like a forest fire.So to turn off System Restore to stop it from moving about.The problem was ,you have what them Virus names are.One of them could of done one thing then the other work to do the opposite as the first one.Making your system to freeze.I though i did the right thing.i guess i was worng.Far as re-installing any Disk program.I all ready have a firewall.I was looking for something that would work to protect against spyware.I hate that ,an what there reasons of it allso.Sorry for saying...VIRUS restoring from Vault........which it did not.I was told that i needed to run the scan in safe-mode.Was i wrong in doing it that way .. ?

Hi, I understand the inconvenience you have encountered. The steps you performed are correct. Based on my experience, under Normal Mode, most of antivirus programs will not scan the System Restore folder. Thus, in case the Restore Point files were infected by virus, we need to boot to Safe Mode to scan again. Sometimes, we also need to restart the System Restore to clear the virus from Restore Points. Similar as System Restore, if you have some other disk programs which will cache the disk change (such as WDP feature of SteadyState), we also need to disable the feature or uninstall the program to clear the virus from the cache file. For your information, antivirus & firewall may not block spyware. Thanks for your help.When i got my PC new 3 Years ago. I received this program package with it from Song.I am not a sony fan by far. I have a dvd program but i never bought a DVD burner for it yet.I am not into burning music. I allso received these 2 programs with the CD Burner i bought with it.A NTI Backup Now3 program, an a NTI Drive Backup 3 program,so i will try it if i think i need for any Drive safety matter to do with my system.Thanks for all the time you spent on any time to post here.I do know what it is to waste ones time.....not a nice thing to do much of......
