Windows SteadyState and Yahoo email attachment problem.
I have a WwindowsXP Pro SP2. I applied all windows updates, run disk Defrag and updated McAfee virus software then installed Windows SteadyState. I have the Prevent Internet access (except web sites below) checked. The list of allowed web sites are as follows: www.yahoo.com;*.mail.yahoo.com;*.yimg.com;*login.yahoo.com;mail.yahoo.com;*.rd.yahoo.com;*.ard.yahoo.com;address.yahoo.com;calendar.yahoo.com;notepad.yahoo.com;edit.yahoo.com;*.akamai.net Ican get to the email and even to the attachment but when I click DOWNLOAD ATTACHMENT nothing happens. Is there a url that I need to allow for downloading of YAHOO email attachments? Thanks in advance for your help. Allen

Hi Allen, Please uncheck the Third Party Extension Buttons restriction to check the result. Based on my test, this will enable the needed scripts on the website. ---------------------- 1. Start SteadyState. 2. Click the user account -> Feature Restrictions. 3. Under Internet Explorer Restrictions ->Toolbar Options, make sure Third Party Extension Buttons is not selected. 4. Click OK. Test this issue again. Best Regards,

Shawn, I noticed that I forgot to mention that I am running IE 7. I don't know if that will help you or not. Just wanted to make you aware of that. Thanks again, Allen

Shawn, More information for you to consider. When I click the Download Attachment the status bar shows: waiting for http://us.f544.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download.................. then it flashes waiting for res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm........... If I uncheck the "Prevent Internet access (except web sites below)" everything works. Hope this helps as I am at a loss as to whats going on. Thanks again for your time. Allen

Hi Allen, Based on the information you provided, we may need to add more exception websites. Please add the following one to test: *.yahoo.com When I tried to download an attachment from Yahoo's mailbox, a "Virus Scan Result" window would pop up. Did it appear on your side? By the way, you may need to confirm with Yahoo where we were redirected when clicking the attachment link. Regards,

Shawn, Added *.yahoo.com to list of approved sites with no change. Still can not download attachments from YAHOO. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Allen

Allen, Let's temporarily remove all the previous web sites and only allow the following: *.com;*.net If it doesn't work, it will be useless to add more ???.com to the previous list. However, if it does, obviously, we missed some .com or .net in the list. I recommend contacting Yahoo to confirm if there are some unaware websites we need to add. (They may have been hid by Yahoo). I am having the same problem under Window XP with Internet Explorer and Firefox. I called Yahoo support yesterday and they were able to recreate the problem. They said the problem is "definitely on our end (Yahoo's)."

I believe the only thing that you need to include 98.138.82.27. I figured this out by disabling SteadyState and then attempting to download the attachment. It downloaded the attachment from this IP Address, which belongs to Yahoo. I recommend you add the following to SteadyState to prevent any future issues: *.yahoo.com;*.mail.yahoo.com;*.yimg.com;*login.yahoo.com;mail.yahoo.com;*.rd.yahoo.com;*.ard.yahoo.com;address.yahoo.com;calendar.yahoo.com;notepad.yahoo.com;edit.yahoo.com;98.138.82.27;*l.yimg.com;*.yimg.com;l.yimg.com;*yimg.com;*.mg5.mail.yahoo.com;us.mail.yahoo.com;*mg5.mail.yahoo.com;*.mail.yahoo.com;mail.yahoo.com;*.yom.mail.yahoo.net;*.mail.yahoo.net;
