Windows 7 backup fails with error code: 0x8007054F

I want to use Windows 7 Backup and Restore to backup files to a shared drive on a Mac server. I can browse to the network share from the Windows 7 computer without a problem.

I configured the backup settings and kicked it off. After several hours it stopped and reported that it did not complete successfully. The error code reported is 0x8007054F. No other details are provided.

I can't find anything that tells me exactly what this error means. It seems to be pretty generic. Can anyone help?

To drill down to the cause of the problem I would run another backup, this time to a share on some Windows machine.

Hi,

Based on my research, the error code 0x8007054F are caused by system files corruption or registry damaged. I suggest you try the suggestions below to troubleshoot the issue.

Firstly, check if the disk has enough size to backup and you are in administrator account.

Secondly, scan the virus in safe mode due to the virus may block the module of the anti-virus software. Run the SFC tool to repair system files.

If it still doesnt work, you can reset the backup parameters by registry.

In addition to that, you can try perform system restore first and then backup.

This error is usually caused by misconfigured system files that create registry errors within your operating system. Registry errors generally occur when new programs are installed over old ones without the old programs being completely uninstalled. This can cause registry pile-ups and error messages. Another potential cause of these error messages can come from malicious software such as adware, spyware, and viruses. Try to scan and repair any missing or damaged Windows registry files. After the registry issues are resolved, it is recommended to optimize your computer by removing any spyware, adware and viruses.
