Windows 7 Service Pack 1
I see Windows 7 SP1 RTM is now available. What is best practice with regards to adding this to my existing Windows 7 deployment ? Just wait until it is available as an update then install it as an update as part of the deployment task sequence? Or should I download Win 7 + SP1 and add this as my base image ?

I added it to my base image yesterday. Keep in mind it's not officially supported in SCCM yet. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|

Hello John, interessting discussion. I am actually rollout Windows 7 and want to integrate the SP1 in my base Image, too. I have already deployed 130 Windows 7 Computer this year and the further Rollout from 1000 Computer and Notebooks should start in April until July with integrated Windows 7 SP1! Is there any Win7 DVD with integrated SP1 in german language at the moment? Or could you advise me to slipstream the DVD with dism? Or should i update my Gold (Base) Image after installing with all Patches and then the SP1 Update Patch or first the SP1 Update and the all other actual updates? I am a little bit confused! There is also the WAIK Supplement 3.0 available from MS to download with the Windows 7 Sp1 Bootimages. At the moment i have WAIK 2.0 installed. Do i need these supplements? I have already implemented a englisch Windows 7 with integrated SP1 in my tasksequences today! I have already tested to create the Base Image! But i want to have a german language installation! Could you help me? In the downloadcenter (Enterprise Agreement) is only the english Version. Must i wait for the shipping DVDs? Many Question! I hope for one answer! How i get a german Windows 7 with SP1 DVD and when is SP1 with SCCM supported? Thank you very much HerbertHerbert Peil SCCM 2007 R3 One Prim. Hi, Thanks for the replies. My front office manager is downloading the win7 enterprise x64 sp1 .iso from msdn.

How i get a german Windows 7 with SP1 DVD and when is SP1 with SCCM supported? I can see "Windows 7 Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (x64) - DVD (German)" (plus the other editons) available for download on MSDN. Talking about the support statement: it's always been the same for each new product (let it be SQL, a SQL service pack, an OS service pack, a new OS version, ICP etc etc etc) since at least the SMS 2003 days. The ConfigMgr product group will make an announcement 45 - 90 days after RTM of such a product/release. So just be patient. I also don't understand why people are trying to put a new release into production as soon as it is avaiable. Updating or creating a new image might be very easy, but all applications etc are untested then.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

from where did you download the original MS Iso-files with integrated SP1?

I have been using a task sequence to update my windows 7 images with the latest patches and then recapturing the updated WIM. Thats been working so I tried to do the same thing with SP1. I added it into my TS after applying the image but the Capture part of my TS fails. Has anybody used this approach and if so where did not inject SP1? thanks

I have noticed on other sites some speaking of patches that have been rolled back. This may present a problem if you intend your environment to work as patched instead of SP1 patched. You may want to stick with advice of others here and only SP1 new images and wait for more info about SP1 before pushing out to in place systems. At least systems working will keep working, and new systems can be tests to see if they work without issue. BTW the MVLS with SP1 seems to work fine as a way to update your SCCM image bound for a task sequence.

Off course you were really helpful. So I will create a package instead. Thank you.

and i was hoping that MS would finally have changed the iso of win7 with integrated sp1 by using an capture of partition c:\ but no, still the same, using d:\ so stupid, so now we all have to run again capture and image instead of using the iso and create wim with dism.

All I did was download the new iso from Microsoft with SP1 integrated, stuck that in MDT, swapped my build and capture task sequence in MDT to use the new OS and run the build and capture TS. Imported the new wim into SCCM. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|

Hi Torsten thank you very much. I will have another look in the MVLS for the DVD. We are still deploying Windows 7 and so i want to deploy Windows 7 with SP1 to avoid duplicate testing of the OS. The other Reason ist the great effort to deploy SP1 a few month after Installing Windows 7 RTM. I deploy Win7 SP1 after April so i hope there is the official support available at this time. Is there a way to deploy SP1 to my clients through SCCM? I've run Synchronization multiple times but I don't see SP1 in my Updates list.
February 26th, 2011 9:13am

Hello Kostas, i deploy the SP1 within an SCCM Package this time with following parameters: windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe /unattend /norestart I do not have many computers deployed (130), so this is a way for me this time to update to SP1. For all parameters run the exe with /? I think it still need a time until you can deploy the SP1 with WSUS or SCCM. This was mentioned in the other comments! I hope i could help you Greetings Herbert Peißl SCCM 2007 R3 One Prim. Site 2008 Server R2 1100 Clients XP / Windows 7 SQL 2005 64BIT

Hi, you speek from "images". I have one image with windows 7 SP1 which is now build with a integrated SP1 DVD. At last captured to my Reference Build wim. This is an automatically process with an Tasksequence. I do not integrate the Sp1 to the wim! 2nd i have one Tasksequence for LAN Computer/ Lan Laptops and another tasksequnce for Notebooks without domain connection (in a workgroup). It is so simply because we have only one domain. In the tasksequence you can use different XML-Files for different Settings, but i still need one Reference image / Gold Image without any software. The Software were installed when the computer is needed. Over a little hta Script i can read the User Software Membership from AD-Groups (one group for each Software) and associate the eqivalent Softwarepackages in SCCM and install to Software within the Tasksequence(Variable). Hope it is helpfull for you Herbert Peil SCCM 2007 R3 One Prim. Has anyone used ImageX on a Windows 7 SP1 C: partition yet? If yes did it work for you? I'm having this issue where it will fly through the image process and then never produce a .wim file. Started when I installed a clean Windows 7 SP1 x64 (and 32bit). If anyone has a clean install of Windows 7 SP1 and experience with ImageX I would appreciate it if you could try it and let me know you're results. EMU_99 - > I totally agree with you. What is the point of the install.wim using D:\? Thanks, Danny33
