Windows 7 Pro x64 task sequence fails- Full OS?
I am deploying Wnidows 7 Pro x64 to my machines. I'm running SCCM 2007 SP2 w/R2. Here is what I have done. I had setup a task sequence to install windows 7 x64 on my hp laptop. After troubleshooting a few issues - I was able to get this to work. The task sequence had steps to format the disk (I create a 100mb hidden partition and the rest is the C:\ drive). I apply my drivers - use WMI to apply SATA driver - then the OS installs. Then it reboots and installs the SCCM client. After this the task sequence installs some standard software - Office 2003, Adobe reader, java, antivirus. The machine is also added to my domain. This worked. So I log in and I notice I didn't add 2 drivers to the install. This laptop needed the HP Quick Launch buttons driver and a driver for the fingerprint sensor. I add the fingerprint sensor drivers. The HP QuickLAunch buttons is a setup.exe install - I am unable to get the .inf files so I must run setup.exe. I test on my machine and setup.exe /S installs this silently. I have this software package setup and I create a program for the package to run setup.exe /S. I use this on my windows XP for various driver package installs with no issues. Keep in mind - that my task sequence would build my machine successfully. After adding the fingerprint sensor driver and this driver package - I know I haven't changed anything else - my task sequence failed on the HP QuickLaunch button isntall with error message in SMS TS log - "The step "HP QLB" must be running in full OS. Failed to run the ction HP QLB. The request is not supported. Error: 80070032: Windows. So I moved the HP QLB step to the end of the task sequence after the Office 2003, adobe, etc and now it fails on the first software install of Office 2003. Any help I can get on this will be greatly appreciated. ZachZach Smith

Just found this in my SMSTS.log file - not sure if this means anything - probably normal BUT... Right above my error message of 'Must be running in Full OS' - There is a line that says Expand a string: FullOS !blnWinPE, HRESULT=80070032 (E:\nts_sms_fre)sms\client\tasksequence\executionengine\instruction.cxx,2725)Zach Smith

I found another change to my task sequence - I have added a step to disable UAC via registry modification and to 'restart the computer' I suspect that could be the cause. I'm investigating this.Zach Smith

It was the 'restart computer' task after the disable UAC registry changes. Zach Smith

Hi Zach, I need to install the QLB as a package but because it's a setup i cannot do this silent. Do you have any idea how to make a package that installs it quietly. I am a newby with SCCM so sorry if this is a stupid question. Kind regards for you help
