Windows 2012 Server Connector Stops working.

Client computer is a 2007 Pro. When I try to connect to the server using the connector software, I get all the way to the login etc and every single time it says the connector software has stopped.

Hi,

>Client computer is a 2007 Pro.
Please provide the OS version of the client system. Run msinfo32 and click Enter to confirm the details of OS version.

Also, I want to confirm with you that if it is a Windows Server 2012 Essentials? Instead of Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials.

Based on the ComputerConnector.log you provided, it re-try to download the connector successfully by http. I have found the fe80::c41c:8632:e5ce:7eeb displayed in the log file. You may try to disable IPv6(in general, it is not recommended) temporarily and confirm that if it will successfully re-connect to the Essentials.

If the problem persists, the connector software has stopped is prompted when configuring the client with Connect a Computer to the Server Wizard?

I ended up having to reset one computer to factory settings. That seems to have fixed that problem. I replaced the hard drive in the machine which was one of the problems and now it's working. Yes I am using Windows 2012 Essentials on the Server(Not sure if its R2). I tried several times to remove and reinstall the connector software to no affect. It would quit responding repeatedly. I was having problems with slowdowns, intermittent connections and then no connection to the Server at all. That all went away. I am still having issues with BPA scan telling me

Problem:

The DNS client is not configured to point only to the internal IP address of the server.

This part is driving me insane. There are a lot of posts about it but none seem to follow through with my problem. I have a USG60 Router I just installed but copied all settings to it from the old one. I only have one NIC on the server and IPconfig/all only shows 1. I am fairly confident in some of my abilities but this is a new mess for me. I am not familiar with Server OS.

How do I disable IPV6?

Hi,

It seems that client communicates with the server via IPv6 address, but, by default, there should be IPv4 address. I am wondering if this is related to the connection problem you have mentioned.

Since you have a re-installation, and problem has gone, there is no need to disable IPv6.

You may reference article "How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003" for detailed instructions about configuring the DNS client(this also applied to other OS version):
