Windows 10 activation key
Ok so I am currently using Windows 10 pro build 10240. It is showing in that I need to activate Windows. I spoke with a Marc G on the online support chat. I told him I was a part of the insider program. He asked for my Windows 8 key verified that it was genuine and said I just had to get a key that will activate windows 10. I asked him if this would stay permanent when the RTM build is out on the 29th or if i would have to reinstall windows 8 and upgrade from there. He said it would stay genuine once the change to RTM happened. He proceeded to send me a remote desktop control link and while he was remotely controlling my desktop set up another support chat and asked the new gentleman named Harvey C if he was windows 10 support. He was so Marc G told me to talk to him and then Marc G disconnected the chat and remote desktop control. Harvey wasnt very helpful unfortunately. Harvey told me to use this forum as support so here I am. Whats next?

As of now, all pre-release keys are de-activated.

There is no workaround . Please just wait till July 29th when Win 10 RTM is released.

All pre-release product keys published earlier for builds of Windows 10 Insider Preview have been deactivated and will no longer activate any Preview builds, including Build 10240.

Will I have to reinstall windows 8 to upgrade the windows update way with my genuine windows 8 key? If so where do i get the iso for windows 8? Or, once the 29th is here will I be able to use my windows 8 key to activate windows 10 without having to go through the installation of windows 8 and upgrade to ten?

First  am concerned that you did not contact MIcrosoft because AFAIK there is no support (let alone phone support) for the Beta Insiders program.  What number did you call?

You realize if it was not Microsoft you not only gave them your "genuine" win 8.1 key but also gave them remove access to your machine.

Second since you upgraded from 8.1 to insider when win 10 comes out you have 2 choices.  First to stay an insider, or second to go to the release version.  You need do nothing about activation until the 29th when win 10 comes out.

No. You do not have to go through the installation of Windows 8 and upgrade to ten.

Stay where you are. A lot of users are having this activation issue. Situation will be better rectified after July 29th..... hopefully.

In general, after July 29th, qualified Windows users will be notified for a free upgrade to Windows 10 RTM. They will then use Windows Update to do the initial upgrade to Windows 10 RTM.
That applies to both users who are running the Insider Preview and users who are running Win 7 SP1 or Win 8.1.

I attempted to use the product key you supplied for enterprise. Activation failed.  Please further explain your note to run the lines in cmd to activate.  Thanks.
