Window 7 machines in Window Server 2008 R2 computer group
Hello everyone I am currently testing the installation of ops manager agents on our windows 7 client machines. The issue we are having right now is that when the machines have been discovered. For some reason the machines are associates with the window server 2008 R2 Computer Group which has an alerting rule set to it. Is there anyway to make it so that the window 7 clients are not put into the server group?

Hi Do you have either (or both) of the Hyper V Management Pack or VMM Management Pack installed? I don't recall if the latest version of the Hyper V MP still has this issue but if so, there is a workaround here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2009/11/03/why-do-my-group-memberships-for-windows-computers-have-machines-that-don-t-belong-there.aspx There are no workarounds for the VMM MP - there problems with the group populator module and it causes group memberships to be incorrect (the last comment by Brian Wren on the above url gives more info). I have both management pack installed. The window 7 desktops are not virtual though. Would the hyper-v/vmm management pack still try to pick them up thinking they are virtual?
