WinPE and Apipa
Morning All, I am having a strange issue with a deployment task sequence using SCCM 2007 R3. Whenever I boot into the x86 boot image, I am getting an APIPA address. However, when I do an ipconfig /renew, it picks up a DHCP address and the TS continues. At first I thought this was drivers, but surely the /renew wouldn't work? Thanks, Paul

Thanks Torsten. I have had a look at the DHCP Lease time and it is currently set to three days. Not sure about the portfast on the spanning tree as I am fine with imaging another hardware type. Again it leads me to drivers, but they must be present or the /renew wouldn't work. thanks, Paul

Please don't dismiss portfast just because another NIC type works -- that doesn't prove anything except the other NIC is slower to initialize or is tolerate at a networl level of delays in the switch port becoming active. Please approach your networking smart folks and have them fill you in on the details of what STP Portfast is or do your own web searches on it; it has been a culprit in network startup issues for 10+ years and I have seen it (actualy the lack of it) cause sporadic, difficult to identity issues over that period of time. Another possibility is the network cable. I have seen bad network/patch cables cause a whole host or weird issues also. Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

Hi All, Thanks for the reponses. Turns out, the minute I move the machine to another network port everything works fine. After asking the network guys to check, it was Port fast. Huge thanks for the help :) Regards, Paul
