WinPE 3.0 Vista instead of W7 progress bar
Hi, we are using WDS on W2008 as a PSP for our SCCM environment. We added two MDT 2010 boot images (32 and 64 bit) to the PSP. We used the MDT wizard to create the boot images on the primary site server with MDT and WAIK for Windows 7 installed. Now as i expected to see the nice Windows 7 boot splash screen (the 4 color window that twist into position), instead i got this yellow/green Vista progress bar when i PXE booted from a client. When opening a commandprompt i saw that the boot image was version 6.1, so WinPE 3.0 hence Windows 7 codebase. Probably we missed a configuration, does somebody know what to check/configure/fix? EDIT: Is it due to the fact that our PXE server is installed on W2008 (similar Vista codebase) instead of W2008R2 (W7 codebase)? Or perhaps that WAIK for Windows 7 or SCCM does not place the all needed files on the PSP folders? Regards, Dutch guy

as long as your version of SCCM is 2007 Service pack 2, and your boot images are version 6.1.7600.16385 then it's no problem, I see it too, cheers niall My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

I know, it's no problem but i just want to know why it's that simple Vista progress bar. We're in pilot phase and users are asking why Vista is installed (although W7 will be installed eventually) when it boots up for the first time, especially the IT department that always comes first :-S. i see this sometimes in our environment too. apparently it's something to do with the time it takes to do certain startup tasks or on certain hardware.tesgroup
