Will double hop issue occur in sharepoint while connecting to content database
HI, I have gone through some of the concepts related to Impersonation and Double Hop issue in ASP.NET. I wanted to know how a webapplication in sharepoint connects to it's content database in the following scenario. Scenario: I have hosted Webapplication in Sever A and SQL in Server B. IIS(Server A) is configured for Integrated Windows Authentication(NTLM) and Impersonation is enabled(<Identity Impersonate="True"). My question is under whose credentials Web Server will access Content Database in Server B. Is it Logged in user identity or Application Pool Identiity? and Does Double Hop issue occur in this scenario? Siva Sankar

Hello Siva, Sharepoijt web application uses the Pool account identity to connect to the backend database. For central admin it is the same account as your timer service run, else for all other webapplication, the data is accessed from SQL using the Application Pool identity you specify while creating the Webapplication. Hope this helps!I LOVE MS..... Thanks and Regards, Kshitiz (Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.)

Hi Kshitizs, Thanks for your reply. It really cleared some of my confusion. I got another question here. While updating data to any list in a sharepoint site why should we elevate priviliges if it is already using App Pool Identity to access the database?Siva Sankar
