Will SCCM client work if they are connected in VLAN
Hi I am windering if any body out there know what would happen when clients pcs have VLAN connection. In our set up the machines I need to manage they are located across campus and with different physical IP..sevral subnets. So my network admin suggested why not I have the machines on VLAN and that way machines will get IP as if they are located in the same subnet as my primary site server is. I kind of like the idea. However, I am not much aware of pros and cons of VLAN in such setup. Will the clients communicate without any issue for updates, software deplyment and IT inventory assesment? Please advise.Thank you.

As Kenneth points out, as long as the traffic gets from the managed system to the site server, ConfigMgr doesn't care about VLANs, subnets, or any network configuration details. All ConfigMgr (and any application for that matter) does is send data on a connection provided by the OS which in turn is provided by the NIC and finally the network. How the traffic actually gets to the destination is completely independent of the functionality of ConfigMgr (or any given application).Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys
