Wildcards in SSRS
We have SSRS enabled and reports are there. Through Web interface when user goes to report that has criteria, they only get drop downs to select from (or value links), but they do not get text fields where they can type the names including any wildcards? In the normal SCCM Reporting, these same reports you can type int he search term and use wildcards? AND through the SCCM admin console if the SSRS report is launched you can type in a text field the criteria to search for including wildcards, So not sure why through the web interface you can't type in wildcards for searches? Is there a way to fix this? Terry

Any, all that have criteria fields. All I get are static lists, not text fields where I can enter text and wildcards. Terry

Been a month and a half... Anyone have any ideas? I just want to be able to use wild card etc.. when using the SSRS reports through web just like I do with normal SCCM reporting. Thanks, Terry

I can use wildcards in SRS reports...but I must admit it's all custom reports. Perhaps you aren't using Report Builder 2.0 (or 3.0) to create or customize your SRS reports? http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/sthompson/archive/tags/SSRS/default.aspxStandardize. Simplify. Automate.

Nope very very basic... SSRS through a web report, not a single report allows you to enter anything. You must select from the drop downs. All standard basic reports,... any that with normal reporting I can enter custom stuff I can only select from drop downs. Terry

The standard reports are copied (converted) to SQL-based (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc678412.aspx) reports (not model based: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512025.aspx). The report parameters are retrieved by a SQL query. You could modify the report to accept wildcards or any text, but that's a manual process.

Sorry, so all I did was import the sccm canned reports. From above looks like because of that the parameters are retrieved automatically? So if we want to be able to use wildcards I have to edit the report and do something to it. I haven't really worked with SSRS too much, any details on what I would have to edit? And how? Thanks, Terry

Hi Terry, There are different tweaking that needs to be done, like modifying drop down lists, allowing Null values adding charts etc. If you can provide us with one of the reports you have in mind then maybe we can get you started with that.Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products
