Why does the Edit properties form for a pdf open as full screen and when you click on Save button, Adobe opens the pdf.

Via a list web part, I click on Edit Properties icon for a pdf and the edit form opens as full screen.  When I click on Save button, Adobe opens the pdf.  This only happens when the edit form is full screen.  There is not an option to reduce the maximized window.  If I click on the checkbox next to the pdf entry in the web part, the Documents ribbon becomes available and I can click on Edit Properties.  The edit form opens in its standard size and clicking on the Save button does not cause the pdf to open like it does when the edit properties form is in full screen.   I can click on the edit properties icon next to the pdf entry and the edit form opens in its standard size.  However, eventually, the edit properties opens in full screen again.  I cannot figure out what causes the edit properties form to open full screen again.   We use Windows 7, Internet Explorer 11, and SharePoint 2010 server with a document library of just pdf files so the list web part on this page displays a view.   This issue only happens with two users.

Anyone seen this issue before?

Hi Gilsbar,

For this issue, I recommend to do the things below to narrow down the issue scope:

  1. Ask the users with issue to test the scenario in another computer where Edit Properties form works fine for other users.
  2. Add the site to trusted sites in Internet Explorer(IE) and change the Document mode to IE 8, and then test.
