Why Active Directory deleted 2 computers with same name?

Hello.

I turned off PC.DOMAIN.COM (without deleting it from domain), and added second PC with same name (PC.DOMAIN.COM). 2nd PC works in domain good, but when I turn on 1st PC - Active directory will delete both computer's from domain. I understood why AD delete 1st PC from domain, but why delete 2nd PC?

How to set AD to not delete both computers from domain?

Thanks.

Hi,

As far as I know, when you added the second computer with the same name, windows changed the sid in the AD database that goes with that name making the first machine not able to talk to the domain. But it will not delete the second computer from the AD.

I've tested this in my local lab, after I turn on the first computer, it gives me an error that "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed" which is expected. But the second computer works well for me.

Any script or configuration in your environment which might be causing this deletion?
