Which GP is Applied

Hi!

How can we check which GPO is applied for WSUS Server as there is no GPO in the Domain Controller showing the settings for it. If the GPO has been deleted then how can we revert the WSUS location settings applied on workstations?

Thanks.

Hi

You can run gpresult for check applied gpo details;check gpresult command on this article

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc733160.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Also if you can't see any gpo about wsus(on DC),it was deleted, try to check on event logs for delete, etc

For revert if you have a backup of gpo,you can restore it or you need to create wsus gpo and apply this to computers,

Check this articles about wsus gpo

To know the applied GPO's on the server.

Start --> Run --> gpresult /v >> gpresult.txt

Open gp result using notepad and look for a line called "Applied Group policy Objects"

You will be able to verify the GPO's.

If GPO deleted, You need to reconfigure the WSUS gpo / configuration or restore it from GPO backup.

You can check the WSUS configuration from below registry path.

Computer\HKEY_LM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Update

It is shown under Local Group Policy when I ran gp result.

Hi

Do you mean the WSUS location settings were shown under the local group policy?

Yes it is showing under Local Group Policy. It is configured in system center configuration manager. How can we disable windows update in it?

Hi

ConfigMgr creates a local policy and those are *always* overwritten by GPO (that's a Windows mechanism). That's why you can see the settings under the local group policy.

For the question how to disable windows update in it you may refer to the sccm forum, there are a lot of experts, you can find a solution there:
