Where can I find a list of icons and their meanings?
SharePoint uses a whole range of icons; is there anywhere where they are explained? For example:on the Site Content and Structure screen you have a series of orange icons. On mouse hover provides the explanation "Type:List" but within the icon are a range of blue inset smaller icons which seem to be used to differentiate Lists.

you can find those icons at%program files%/common files/microsoft shared/web server extensions/12/templates/imagesTheir meaning will surely depend on the context where they are used; i don't know of any comprehensive explanation of all of them.

this blogpost shows you all the images with a template and their name: http://www.bitsofsharepoint.com/ExamplePoint/Site/SharePointLayoutImages.aspx for each OOTB list in sharepoint their are corresponding icons available. Like markus explained, I do not think there is any explanation why they are orange or blue..It is just a theme design decision, I think.MCT,MCTS - http://www.tomvangaever.be

i can't even find anywhere that describes what icons signify a document library, versus a sharepoint site, etc. There are a bunch of icons with little people figures but they dont' help when you are looking at a site hierarchy and see all these icons and can't tell whether you're looking at a list, or a team workspace, or a sharepoint page, or a site, or......what.
