When do packages begin copying over to a newly built DP after adding it to a DP group?

I added a newly built DP to my "New DP Build" Distribution Point Group and I am waiting for the packages to be copied over to it. I am just curious how long should this take? The new DP is on the same subnet as the DP on my Site Server so there shouldn't be any issues with bandwidth. I am doing this to prep the DP to be sent out to a remote site here in a couple of days.

Any help is always greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

It will start straight away, it depends on that the Distmgr has a slots for so it is not busy copying content to other DP's instead.. That is most likely why you don't see any action.

Jrgen,

When I click on the Content button on the new Distribution Point properties, it only shows the Configuration Manager Package.

I initially had this new DP set up for prepackaged content, but then I removed the checkbox due to what I read in the Distmgr.log file that stated that because it was set up for prepackaged content, no packages would be copied over. So, I just unchecked it and was hoping that it would then begin copying packages over, but no luck.

Should I just remove the DP role and start over again?

One more thing, this is a Windows 8.1 system that will be a DP.

Also, I did not install any prereqs for the DP on the Win 8.1 system since I just figured SCCM would do that automatically.

Thanks

You should install the pre-requisites yourself

Personally, I haven't seen that option work 100%
