I have the same problem here.  I have not found a solution (except to use Chrome)

One possible option in a pinch (which reduces your browser's security) is to make the minimum key length 512 bits.  Look for the certutil command on this page:

I suggest you not do this if you have any other workaround.

 

The problem here is not the key-length: the whole cert is intentionally invalid. 

Well, Microsoft has for a while now decided they know best about security.  Per common wisdom (what a joke) a mere user cannot possibly know better what he wants to do than mother Microsoft.

There's a whole genre of products oriented toward protecting the "Windows for Dummies" crowd from being duped (while at the same time duping them for profit). 

The problem comes in when they cross the line and make it impossible to do real work in the pursuit of this arbitrary "security" stuff.  Never forget that the concept of "signatures" is arbitrary (which reminds me, I need to send a few hundred bucks for my code signing signature update).

And so it inevitably boils down to otherwise normal people trying to play hacker to find the mysterious registry key/value that makes it all better again.  Except most recently Microsoft has even been neglecting to include those things.  All too often the phrase "the operation was a success but the patient died" seems to apply.

Is it any wonder XP has surpassed once again the usage of Windows 8?
