What makes a client switch from Active to InActive??????
Does anyone know the criteria which causes an SCCM Object to be switched from having an ACTIVE status to having an INACTIVE status? Is this based on the MP not getting hardware inventory / software inventory / heartbeat discovery within a certain number of days? If yes..........what's the number of days?Jason

Clients are marked inactive in two ways: When a client is flagged as obsolete it is also marked as inactive. The client status reporting feature in Configuration Manager 2007 R2 can be configured to mark inactive clients if the option Update Configuration Manager 2007 site database with inactive client information is selected in the Options tab of the Client Status Reporting dialog box. What if a client is not obsolete and we do not have R2 installed?Jason

Inactive clients are also those that have not been discovered recently by the heartbeat discovery. The definition of recently is defined in the delete task as a number of days. Note that obsolete clients are also marked inactive. Ref: http://www.myitforum.com/forums/tm.aspx?high=&m=207761&mpage=1#207761

What if a client is not obsolete and we do not have R2 installed? Jason It will not be marked as "Inactive". The client status reporting feature for SCCM R2 just let you have the ability to manually mark the clients as "Inactive".Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

there was a plugin for sms 2003 called sms client health which marked clients as inactive. Assuming you originally had sms 2003 that could still be in effect."Everyone is an expert at something" Kim Oppalfens Configmgr expert for lack of any other expertise. http://www.scug.be/blogs/sccm
