What is the latest version of SCCM?
I am almost positive that I am using the latest version of SCCM, which is SP2. But I am not positive, since my version is actually a collaboration of numbers that have no meaning to anyone but the developers (pretty weak for a product that is not free).
When I right click on my Management Point / Parent Server, I get the following properties:
Type: Primary
Version: 4.00.6487.2000
R2 Installed: Yes
Build Number: 6487
When I go to the properties of any of my DP / Child Servers, I see the following:
Type: Secondary
Version: 4.00.6487.2000
R2 Installed: No
Build Number: 6487
What is the latest version?
If I installed my secondary servers from my Primary server, why are they not showing that R2 is installed, even though they are the same build?
Thank you for any help you can provide me.Eddie

R2 has to be installed seperately. It's not integrated into the installation AFAIK.

Any chance you could give me a link to what I need to update my Secondary Site servers so that they have R2? When I initially installed SCCM, it was a complete R2 install, that I then updated to SP2. So I figured R2 was just an earlier version than SP2.
From everything I am seeing, R2 was just an earlier version of SCCM before SP2.
Are there features that R2 has, that SP2 did not?
Is there any reason for me to install R2, if i have SP2 already?
What is the latest version of SCCM if not what I have?

Hi,
SCCM R2 is not a full product version and it requires that SCCM SP1 or SP2 already be installed on your site server before running the
R2 Setup. SCCM R2 integrates support for application virtualization, and provides an update to the Operating system Deployment
capability initially shipped in SCCM. In addition, Client Status Reporting, SQL Reporting and Forefront Client reporting
are all now available. You must manually install R2 on secondary sites it is not going to "upgrade" through the console
automatically.
The last version of SCCM is SCCM 2007 SP2 (4.00.6487.2000)

Yes, if you have installed R2 on the secondaries.

Hi,
Unknown Computer Support appears only if you install the R2 package on your secondary site server.
