Hi, If you manually assign it to site ABC then the client will report inventory, getting policies e.t.c from the ABC site even if there is no boundary, Yes. Regards, Jörgen-- My System Center blog ccmexec.com -- Twitter @ccmexec

Iam getting some kind of issues makes me confusion about Roaming..esp., for laptops who roams around the Globe. As per my knowledge ,in simple words,If a client's IP address changes to different site site boundary then we call it as it is in Roaming. There AMP,Current MP,Assigned MP,PROXY MP matter comes in.Then client will download the content from LOCAL DP but try to contact Default/Assigned MP for Policy and it cannt get the Polices from Current MP. i get lot of issues when a user changed his location and either Site code and IP address are from same site or Different sites. Many times client is not able to resolve the names. Eventhough the client is able to access intranet sites via VPN connection.not able to retrieve/resolve SCCM service points. 1)do i Need to change the SITE code of client according to client location..? 2)Manually enter the client host file with Services host entries..?? 3)OR am I missing some settings from the site side..?? What are recommandations for these type of issues.. Any valuable thoughts...?? Reddy

I'm not sure, you have already gone through below technet article or not. i get lot of issues when a user changed his location and either Site code and IP address are from same site or Different sites. Many times client is not able to resolve the names. The client is not able to retrieve the MP using an AD query, so it tries to find an SLP. That fails because it cannot find an SLP published in WINS. So you could publish the SLP to WINS http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632567.aspx or install the clients using the SMSSLP parameter: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680980.aspxTorsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

In our environment there is no concept of WINS and AD schema has been extended .i guess even we provide the SMSSLP parameter while installing the client manually.Every time client tries to resolve this SMSSLP name and its failing. Reddy

SMSSLP details are published in AD? I would have enabled debuglogging to get more details on the locationservices.log file.Anoop C Nair - Twitter @anoopmannur MY BLOG: http://anoopmannur.wordpress.com SCCM Professionals This posting is provided AS-IS with no warranties/guarantees and confers no rights.

The client does not fail in resolving the name of the SLP, it fails to find the SMS_SLP "service record" in WINS. The client would not have to look up the SLP if it was provided during the installation. See if the SMSSLP parameter is set in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CCM (or HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\CCM on x64 machines)Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de
