Web part edit menu missing when web part page in edit mode
All of a suddent the edit menu on all the web parts on a web part page are missing when the page is in edit mode. The only edit functionality available to me is "Edit Title Bar Properties". I am the site owner. I don't know if I did something to make this happen or if I'm experience some SP weirdness all of a sudden. There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you're are trying to accomplish.

I would recommend using SharePoint Designer and see if that allows you to edit the web partNikolas Charlebois-Laprade Microsoft Certified Professional Software Engineer and Project Manager http://nikcharlebois.sharepointspace.com

Hi, According to your description, here is a way to troubleshooting, please have a try. If you have a WebPart that gives you errors, so you can’t even see your web part page making you unable to edit it, then there’s a little trick. You can remove Web Parts from pages, even if you can’t go into edit mode. Simply add : ?contents=1 to the URL for the page that does not work. Example: http://code-journey.com/Pages/Default.aspx?contents=1 Now you can Click on “Check Out” the page and then check the Web Parts that are giving you trouble and click “Delete” to remove them Best regards, David Hu

Hi, This problem will occurs sometime if you have the <div> tag in the content editior web part. Edit the page and chek if any div tag available in the content editor webpart script/text. If this is avaiallbe then remove them and try viewing the page. Hope this will help you. Senthilrajan Kaliyaperumal

It's not doing it any more. I can't remember what I did to "fix" it, but I should add that I log in as different users (for testing) quite a bit and sometimes I don't think the permissions get reset like they should. I think closing my browser, re-opening and re logging in returned full functionality to the web parts. I am curious about the Web Part Page Maintenance page though. What does the Reset button do to a selected web part? There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you're are trying to accomplish.
