Hi Shayaan, I understand that you want to update a site using stsadm, but you dont know which URL to use. What kind of update do you want to perform? The URL to use in the command depends on which site you want to update. If the site is in SharePoint web application , the URL will be like http://MyServer-sp01.am.MyDomain.net/sitename. Are you applying any Service Pack? Looking at the Web Application Names, the first one is your end-user website which may need the update. In any case, you need to find the URL of this site from the Users/Business who has placed this request with you to perform Update. Thanks & Regards, Kamlesh | Blog | Twitter | Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Hi Shayaan, From the listed applications it seems that the first one i.e. named "SharePoint" is your site and corresponding URL i.e. "http://MyServer-sp01.am.MyDomain.net/ " should be used in stsadm. For verifying the same, you can go to IIS on the server and check on which port your application is hosted. Once you know the port, go to "Central Admin->Operations->Alternate access mappings" and check if you have some enrty matching the URL "http://MyServer-sp01.am.MyDomain.net/ " as public URL. Check if this entry (or for any other entry having public URL as http://MyServer-sp01.am.MyDomain.net/) has internal URL as something like http://Myserver-sp01:<port that you figured out from IIS>. If this is so, its verfied that you should use "http://MyServer-sp01.am.MyDomain.net/" as URL for stsadm. For example, if your application is hosted on port 55555 then you might have an entry similar to: Internal URL Zone Public URL for Zone http://Myserver-sp01:55555 Default http://MyServer-sp01.am.MyDomain.net/ Thanks and regards, Kaushik

I think what you are looking for is what instance has what sites. You can find that information in Central Administration > Application Management > Site Collection List And then you can switch between these by clicking the web application drop down at the top right of the web part. SharePoint http://MyServer-sp01.am.MyDomain.net/ SharePoint Central Administration v3 http://MyServer-sp01:32263/ SharePoint Shared Services http://MyServer-sp01:34548/ SharePoint.Shared.Services http://MyServer-sp01:16567/
