Warning: no remote client installation account found
Hi, I have Config Manager 2007 R2 (4.00.6487.2000) running on a 2008 SP2 box. Somehow I am unable to let the Client Push Installation Wizard run succesfully when started manually under the client installation account. The configured account is member of the Local Administrators Group on target computer and firewall requirements etc are met. Logfile ccm.log shows the following entries ======>Begin Processing request: "SERVER_DUMMY_LOCAL.DUMMY", machine name: "SERVER" ---> Trying each entry in the SMS Client Remote Installation account list ---> Warning: no remote client installation account found The option "Include only clients in this site's boundaries" enabled or disabled does not matter. However if I add the Config Manager 's computeraccount to the Local Administrators group of the target computer it runs succesful. ======>Begin Processing request: "SERVER_DUMMY_LOCAL.DUMMY", machine name: "SERVER" ---> Trying each entry in the SMS Client Remote Installation account list ---> Warning: no remote client installation account found ---> Attempting to connect to administrative share '\\SERVER.dummy.local\admin$' using machine account. ---> Connected to administrative share on machine SERVER.dummy.local ---> Attempting to make IPC connection to share \\SERVER.dummy.local\IPC$ etc etc I am unable to determine why the remote client account is not found while it is present and configured. Discovery, collection membership update etc have been run. Raymond

Do you have any computers in you All Systems collection? Can you see the specified client push account in the ccm.log file?Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products

Remove any files from ccrretry then delete the client push account then add it back and see if that changes anything. Personally I never use them though, just use the servers computer account. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |

When you add the client push account back after deleting it....do monitor the ccm.log for any errors.

No, I can't see the account because it can't be found ;)

John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum | John, Doesn't make a difference..... There were no duplicate files Somehow Client Push isn't able to find the configured account and only works by last default option (SCCM computer account) when added to the local administrators group of the target computer. Do you know if it 's possible to get more detailed logging than the ccm.log ? I am really curious to why the account isn't found on the SMS Client Remote Installation account list. Raymond

Can you add the site server computer account to a local admin group on one of the PC's. If the no Client push account works ConfigMgr. will try the site server computer account (just to see if that works).Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products

That's really odd. If removing the account and adding it back doesn't do it I am out of ideas. Sorry. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |

Hi John, A few weeks ago we also had some other issues with our SCCM environment. So we had a consultant over and he performed a site reset. When I look at the logging now SCCM is capable again to read entries of SMS Client Remote Installation account list. ======>Begin Processing request: "AFITLHDI", machine name: "SERVER" SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER 12-7-2010 13:35:12 4328 (0x10E8) ---> Trying each entry in the SMS Client Remote Installation account list SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER 12-7-2010 13:35:12 4328 (0x10E8) ---> Attempting to connect to administrative share '\\SERVER.dummy.local\admin$' using account 'dummy\s_sccm' SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER 12-7-2010 13:35:12 4328 (0x10E8) ---> WNetAddConnection2 failed (LOGON32_LOGON_NEW_CREDENTIALS) using account dummy\s_sccm (00000005) SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER 12-7-2010 13:35:12 4328 (0x10E8) ---> WNetAddConnection2 failed (LOGON32_LOGON_INTERACTIVE) using account dummy\s_sccm (00000005) SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER 12-7-2010 13:35:13 4328 (0x10E8) ---> Attempting to connect to administrative share '\\SERVER.dummy.local\admin$' using machine account. The account s_sccm isn't a member of domain administrators nor is it a member of the local administrators group on the target machine which explains those error messages. Why we are having the machine account errors I don't understand yet. Is it due to the fact the target machine is running windows 2008 R2 or do I have to configure local administrator membership on target computers for the SCCM machine account ? Raymond

Did you run a site reset after restoring the site?
August 17th, 2010 10:32am

Yes I did but then I had more problems with WSUS and PXE point as well... I had to reinstall the PXE role that solved the issue with PXE but WSUS is still giving errors. See my latest post for details..

I have read in post of a guy that had a call with MS support.. with MS support this guy changed the sitectr.ct0 file and removed the lines stop sms executive delete BEGIN_RESERVED <domain\account> on the end of the sitectrl.ct0 file Start sms executive Delete acccounts from sms client push config Create the accounts on sms client push config. I recommend not to change the sitectrl.ct0 file without help of MS
