WSS_Content Size has Increased dramatically! PLZ Help
Hello SharePoint Guys ... Just small question plz: size of WSS_Content database has increased dramatically! it's about 7 GB although all my content doesn't exceed 1 GB. Please advise? Btw; It's not log file "LDF" it's the main DB "MDF". (SharePoint 2007/ SQL 2005)

Hi, This is not helping, provide more information about your environment, mainly tell us what do you have on your web application: images, documents, videos...? How long did you have this web application, as This is SharePoint 2007? Did you installed latest updates, it solves lots of problems regarding size and performance? You are saying your content does not exceed 1 GB, what type of content do you have? Is this production environment or dev? The reason I am asking this, is if we can do some troubleshooting.Mai Omar Desouki | Software Consultant | Infusion | MCP, MCTS, MCPD, MCITP, MCT Microsoft Certified Trainer & MCC Microsoft Community Contributor | Email: mai_omar_86@live.com | Blog: http://moresharepoint.wordpress.com

Hi Mai, about content; yes it's just documents (doc, ppt, pdf, xls) and some images not more. my web application was created in 2010 (company portal) intranet with # of users not exceed 70 employee. i didn't install any updates yes it's live environment.

Great and since it is live environment, we can't just install updates like this. If you have dev or test environment that you take this DB so that we can test it would be great. We can select from this DB, which is the thing that is not supported in 2007 but since it is test, then we are only troubleshooting and you will need to install updates. Most important, you need to give your DB a max size.Mai Omar Desouki | Software Consultant | Infusion | MCP, MCTS, MCPD, MCITP, MCT Microsoft Certified Trainer & MCC Microsoft Community Contributor | Email: mai_omar_86@live.com | Blog: http://moresharepoint.wordpress.com

For now, just add this DB to your test environment & tell me when done so we can troubleshoot it & please install updates.Mai Omar Desouki | Software Consultant | Infusion | MCP, MCTS, MCPD, MCITP, MCT Microsoft Certified Trainer & MCC Microsoft Community Contributor | Email: mai_omar_86@live.com | Blog: http://moresharepoint.wordpress.com

You can check your current patch and version status via Central Administration. I'd also suggest a maintenance plan for your WSS database to prevent this sort of thing happening again. Have you one in place currently?Steven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/
