WSS 3.0 list import into Access or Excel - automated
We are running WSS 3.0 and Office Enterprise 2007 on Windows 2003 Server. I have read on how to export from Sharepoint into Excel, or better yet, Access. It says you can then create an Outlook Task to do it every time you click on it, which I am not really familiar with that much. Is there a way to either automate exporting Sharepoint lists to Excel / Access without any user interaction or to run the Outlook Task? (Batch file for autmating outlook task?) Basically, we have our list, I have setup a few different views for our needs using webparts, and now I need to have those views export to either Excel or Access multiple times a day, preferably overwriting the old file and data.

First, this is a development question. (as you referred to Batch file) Lot of ways you can do this. http://blog-sharepoint.blogspot.com/2010/01/how-to-configure-workflow-to-start-at.html http://sharepointmagazine.net/articles/the-dog-ate-my-task-use-sharepoint-designer-to-email-daily-task-reminders http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd365137(v=sql.100).aspx Essentially, you need some sort of mechanism that would run twice a day and send you the reports. Creating a timer job is probably the ideal way to do it in this scenario. Hope this helps. V

Hi MENNONH, To my knowledge, there is not an OOTB solution to do this. As you know, under normal circumstances, if we want to import a list into Access or Excel, we will do this manually. If you want to do this automatically, the best way is to design a workflow for this progress. Thanks & Regards, Peng Lei
