WSS 3.0 AD and FBA
Hi,
I have a sharepoint site that needs to be shared with a couple of non-domain users and domain users not on site.
So the internal domain users go to http://servername... works great.
I extended the SP site for internet use and FBA and they use
https://sharepoint.companyname.com... works great.
Now how can I point my domain users who are not on site to the external address and use AD authentication instead of FBA?
Thanks in advance.

The short answer is you can't use the same url. You have two web applications one for internal users using AD authentication and the second web app configured to use fba which responds to your
https://sharepoint.companyname.com address. In order to expose AD authentication to the outside world, you have to use another external address that points to the existing
http://servername application or extend that web application using AD authentication and point the external address to that web application. The same external address can't point to two web applications.
I hope this helps,

Thanks Craig. That's what I thought. I wish there was a way to use FBA to distinguish external AD users versus external non-AD users by having a username like DOMAIN\USERNAME.
Thanks for the help.
