WSS 3.0: Site Usage Reports don't work ?
Hello, I have some questions about the 'site usage reports' in a WSS 3.0 environment. In the admin-site I have enabled "Usage Analysis Processing" (enable + 30 logfiles + enable processing from 8pm till 12pm) And after 24houres the logfiles are indeed created on the disk (for the admin-site and the main-site) But I get no report when i click on the 'site usage report' link from the site-settings page. A usage report is not available for this site. Usage processing may be disabled on this server or the usage data for this site has not been processed yet. I even have restarted the server, but no luck. The server + sharepoint services (timer, search) is running under an account which is an local administrator, the rights in the log-directory seems ok (read-write-..., files are indeeed created) What do I have to do to view/process the usage-log files (is the time for running the usage processing to short?, ...) Can anyone give me some tips to get this working in a simple WSS 3.0 environment (no MOSS) Thanks, Fred

Did you enable log processing as well? Only thing I can think of right now is that both analysis and log processing needs to be enabled. Thanks, J

I too am looking for a solution to this. I have diagnostic and usage enabled and can see the files being created (and can open them and see all the entries) When I try to run the usage report, I get the same error as shown above.

Did any of you guys find an answer to this? I'm running into the same issue. Thanks

I don't know if this will help you guys or not but you can try the command documented here: http://stsadm.blogspot.com/2007/12/set-usage-analysis.html. It's a custom command that I created which makes it a little easier to enable usage analysis as it takes care of setting up everything that's required (except activating the feature on the site collection).

I was going through the site event viewer and noticed that the reports stopped on the same day I disabled something that was causing the following error below. I think it was the profile import job but I'm not sure. I checked the timer service to make sure that it's functioning properly and it is. It seems like it's just that job that is no longer working. My site usage reports work but they take 2 days to get them and they are not accurate at all.The server was using up all of the CPU and it said there was only 14000 access to the main site for that day. The other pages were only in the 100s.my site is set up with 10 logs and processing between 5 and 530. Good luck with getting it to work.

Hi Fred, I realize this is from a long time ago, but none of the responses appear to answer your question, and I am at the same state with WSS 3.0. Did you ever get a satisfactory answer, if so what did you learn? Thanks, Ray p.s. I have a test version of Office SharePoint Server, and things are straightforward.

Hi All, I too faced the same issue but got it finally resolved. Here I am sharing the steps which meay help others to save their lives like how I saved myself. Step1. Goto Central Administration -> Operations -> Timer Job Definition. Step2. click on Usage Analysis and click disable. step3. click on usage analysis again and enable it back. That's it. Enjoy the result. Thanks
