WSP error: The solution cannot be deployed.
The exact error when deploying using stsadm is this The solution can not be deployed. Directory "Project model" associated with feature {guid1} in the solution is used by feature {guid2} installed in the farm. All features must have unique directories to avoid overwriting files. The "Project model" is a standard document library created in a subsite based on the SharePoint team website template that is available by default. I put some documents in it that are nice to have as part of the solution, they are guidelines that do not change and the users won't have to upload them manually. I read here that the reason could be a "stuck feature" in the server. The way to solve it could be stsadm -o uninstallfeature -filename or -id {guid} However, it is wise to uninstall a feature such as a document library?

You can try to uninstall that feature and check for error, then you can install if you need. Thanks & Regards, Neerubee

Sounds like the feature Project model is already deployed to the 12 Hive. Lets walk through the steps that brought you to this error. You created a site in DEV used VSeWSS Solution Generator to create a WSP from the site and deployed the WSP to QA to test. The isuue isnt tha the Project Model Doc LIb exists in a Site. Its that it already exists as a feature. Typically what you should do is retract the WSP and deploy the modified version. If you happen to be using WSP Builder when you deploy by right clicking on WSP Builder from within Vidual Studio, the older version is retracted.. It seemed to solve the problem. Retracting all solutions except the cores from 40 Fabulous templates and applying WSP, worked. Thanks neerube and Sanders for your help.
