WIM Created in MDT 2010 with Sysprep CopyProfile - Deployed via SCCM 2007 OSD, Default Profile not working
Before I capture the WIM via my task sequence in MDT 2010, I perform a Sysprep with the CopyProfile parameter set to TRUE. The CopyProfile functions correctly. To test this, I applied the WIM to a PC and then logon as new (local or domain) user; all of the settings that I wanted to be defaulted are implemented to the new user. However, when I deploy the WIM via SCCM 2007 OSD, after the WIM is applied, the default user settings are not getting applied. Is there something that SCCM is doing that my default settings are not getting applied to new users? From the troubleshooting I have performed, I have found the following is occuring via SCCM OSD: 1. An unattend.xml file is created in C:\Windows\Panther\Unattend. Is this required to occur? Could this cause the issue I am experiencing with my Default User profile from working?

Hi, You need to configure the Unattend.xml file that is used to deploy the Image in SCCM to include the copyprofile setting, because when you use SCCM to deply the image the unattend.xml file is replaced by sccm before the newly installed OS is started. Then it will work just fine. "When you use tools such as the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit or System Center Configuration Manager, the CopyProfile setting is not required when you run the Sysprep command. These tools usually replace or change the Unattend.xml file after the image is deployed to the disk but before the operating system has started for the first time after you run the Sysprep command. Therefore, the Unattend.xml file that is used in the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit or System Center Configuration Manager deployment process must contain the CopyProfile setting." http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973289 Regards, Jrgen-- My System Center blog ccmexec.com -- Twitter @ccmexec
