WDP hangs up and locks computers
I have a classroom with 16 Dell Optiplex 520 computers. All were re-imaged with the same software. Half of the computers have a 3.2 Ghz processor and the other half have a 3.0 Ghz processor. It's the only differencein hardware I can see. The ones with the 3.2 processors all work perfectly but all the others lock up when the computers reboot at 3 AM with the screen "Windows disk protection is committing changes." In the morning, it is necessay to hold the on/off button to shut down the computer and restart. The computer is fine until the next morning when the process repeats on all computers with the 3.0 processors. Any suggestions?

I found a solution from Christopher who had the same issue in early December. He had the same Dell Optiplex GX520 computers and he found that they had a BIOS version AO3 which SS didn't like and suggested an upgrade to A11 which he had done and worked. I did the same thing and it solved my problem. SS no longer hangs up during Windows disk Protection is committing changes. What a relief. I can move forward again. DonD95

Hi DonD95, thank you very much for the confirmation on the issue. We have forwarded this issue along with the previous thread to our product group. I'm sure this issue should be fixed in the near future. Thank you again.

Well, I'm just pinging this thread because as of today, Jul 10, 2010 this issue has NOT been resolved in Steady State 2.5. Not surprised - I'm sure MS is going to drop SS together since it has not even updated it for Windows 7. At least I was able to find this thread and learn that I need to update the BIOS on my GX520 to resolve this issue.
