Visual Studio and SSIS package in SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard

When I try to create a new Package in I get the error: Microsoft Visual Studio in unable to load this document. The reports works fine. It tells me to load BIDS, but it is and I checked the Integrated service is running. Tried reloading and searching, just not getting anywhere. Any help or point in right direction would be great.

Hi Da86ers,

If you are sure you have BIDS then it could be this http://t-sql.dk/?p=1039 that can fix it

Also ensure you do not have SQL Express anything installed.

Otherwise, un-install, reinstall all except "Express"

Hi Da86ers,

Based on my research, the issue can be caused by the followings:

  • You have also installed SQL Server Express edition on the same server. Please uninstall SQL Server Express and SQL Server Standard, then re-install the SQL Server Standard and make sure you chose to install the SSIS as well.
  • Doesnt install the right Integration Service version. Please reinstall SSIS using the SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard edition installation media.
  • Doesnt install the right BIDS component version. Please reinstall BIDS from the SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard edition installation media.
