Vista/XP differences when mapping drive to sharepoint site with net use via WebClient service/WebDAV
Trying to map a drive to Sharepoint (2007) site on Vista (Enterprise) via login script. Basically something like: net use s: "http://server.domain.com/site" or net use s: "http://server.domain.com/doclib", etc. Works OK under XP SP2 but on Vista it insists on prompting for credentials (user ID + Password) when all I really want is for it to use the existing creds the person is already logged on with! Really hoops the login process. Tried enabling Basic Auth. for WebClient service (HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters\BasicAuthLevel=2 + reboot) but no luck there - hoping it's not another UAC "enhancement".Anyone had any luck working around this or have any better recommendations? Thinking aboutadding to quick links (into Office My Places bar), but drive mapping is (or supposed to be) quick + easy, closer to what users are used to, and good for bulk migration/copy.

You can further alleviate issues by utlizing this kb article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943280) as part of your problem may be FQDN related (your client doesnt like the periods). Hope it helps!
