Virtualisation of sharepoint 2007 Database
Hi All, We recently virtualized our sharepoint 2007 front end server, now company wants to virtualise database server too. Is it possible to virtualise the database role, as i heard that virtualisation of sharepoint database is very complex. As my company's intranet site is near to 30 gB size.

Hi, >> Is it possible to virtualise the database role? Yes it possible, however it depends on many factors (databases number and size, number of useres ..etc) SharePoint database role is the least appropriate role for virtualization in production scenarios, mainly due to the highest amount of disk I/O activity and very high memory and processor requirements. However, it is very common to see the SQL Server virtualized in test farms, quality assurance (QA) farms, and smaller SharePoint environments. a very nice article about virtualization is here http://sharepointmagazine.net/technical/administration/sharepoint-farm-configuring-and-deployment-part-5-virtualizationBest Regards, Ammar MCT http://ahmed-ammar.blogspot.com Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
