The Home folder was removed from Management Studio for SQL Server 2008. Reports, data sources, models, etc. are no longer accessible from here. You can still use Report Manager to manage all your report items.

Hello Tristan,Thank you for bringing my attention to this.I am very disappointed to see this go away in 2008. I am sure therewould be several fellow developers / DBA like me.I would love to understand why?It was a great tool to create rss file that could be used in scripts for installation.Seems like one step forward and several steps back...

Hi, RSS is a script file which develop by VB.NET for reporting service. We can use RSS script files with the Reporting Services SOAP API to access most of the management and administration operations available on your report server. Script Samples (Reporting Services) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms160854.aspx Running a Reporting Services Script File http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152908.aspx Hope these are helpful. If you encounter any issues when using SSRS, please feel free to post new thread and we will be happy to help.Garsy Liang - MSFT

While that is useful information the ability to manage Report Manager site from Management studio was big help. It provided an easy option to script any action action. Like creating datasource, folder, uploading reports, report models, etc. It made deployment so simple. Yes one can build those scripts butit isa big step back I think.Any insight into why it was changed is greatly appreciated? Where do I sign a petition to bring it back?

The idea was to separate functionality so that Management Studio is an admin tool and Report Manager is the reports portal. More specifically, Management Studio is the tool used to perform administrative tasks on the server (i.e. managing jobs, roles, schedules, and system properties). Report Manager is the tool used to manage the actual report items. You can always file issues or suggestions athttp://connect.microsoft.com/. Your feedback is much appreciated.

May be I don't understand your question but if you are asking how get your reports from 2005 server to 2008 serve then... Using the edit link export the report from 2005 to rdl files. Then follow the sample links mentoined above by Garsy Liang create rss script files and finally use the RS utility to run those scripts to upload the reports to 2008.
