View Permissions on Active Directory Groups
I am trying to view permissions for AD groups that have access to SharePoint. I am looking for results that come from the "viewGroupPermissions.aspx" page in the layouts folder, ONLY I NEED THIS TO WORK FOR AN ACTIVE DIRECTORY GROUP, this works fine for SharePoint Groups, but does not work for Active Directory Groups within SharePoint. This page takes an ID as an input and on the left delivers all the urls that the SharePoint Group has access to and on the right, the permissions level for the correspending url (e.g., read, full control, etc)

There are no Active Directory groups used directly in SharePoint permissions. To use an Active Directory group it must be added to SharePoint as either a SharePoint user or SharePoint Group.Paul Stork SharePoint Server MVP

Mark,Good Point. Do you know of any tools out there that allow you to view permission for a particular user? Can I leverage a tool like that to find permissions for an AD group that is receiving permissions in Share Point? Can someone guide me on how to do this problematically, which part of the SharePoint API I should use? Thanks for all the help.

You would need to know what SharePoint user or SharePoint Group the AD group was represented by in SharePoint. As to tools, take a look at DeliverPoint from Lightning Tools. There used to be a free version that would show you permissions, but that couldn't be used to manage them. You can find out more about it here:http://www.lightningtools.com/deliverpoint/sharepoint-permission-management.aspxPaul Stork SharePoint Server MVP
