Hi I'm having a strange problem with a customer.I took a back up from a SharePoint 2007+SP2 site collection in 2 different ways(SQLBackup then restored to new web application and stsadm backup). In both cases I get the same result:All subsites when I go to their _layouts/viewlsts.aspx or _layouts/settings I get Page was not found. Those _layouts pages works fine for the root site but they don't for the 3 subsites it have. I confirmed the version is the same on both server.I realy don't know what should I do to solve that problem... I am too late but i will never give up

Hi, Are you able to open the default page of these subsites? I do not think so you could be. Try executing a sharepoint config wizard. Thanks, Rahul Rashu

Thanks, Rahul Rashu You are right I cannot open the default pages for these sites. But why running configuration wizard could solve the problem? If I could login to the customer server today remotly I will try it and tell you the result because I'm realy not sure if I run the configuration wizard or not because I didn't need any updates.Another idea cam to my mind is the site is in arabic so I may try installing SP2 language package if any exist...I am too late but i will never give up

Hi Eagle, Does the customer have any custom solutions deployed to the environment you took the backup from? Check the Solutions at "Central Admin" > "Operations" > "Solution Management" on the original farm to see if anything has been deployed.Paul Turner http://redmanta.co.uk/blog Twitter: @RedMantaUK MCTS:WSS,MOSS,2010 MCITP:2010. Yes he has 4 solution deployed. Two of them called something like IBM File Connector. The funny thing the customer says every thing is made by my company while these solution has nothing to do with the company I work for they seems to me third party solution.I will try to login to the customer server remotly two hours later and I will tell you then what happened...I am too late but i will never give up

To make sure your environments are like for like you should deploy the same solutions to the farm your restoring too. It's possible that the web application youve restored is dependent on a feature in one of the custom solutions.Paul Turner http://redmanta.co.uk/blog Twitter: @RedMantaUK MCTS:WSS,MOSS,2010 MCITP:2010. Thanks, Rahul Rashu After I copied the web parts dlls in the bin folder and replaced 32 dlls with 64 dlls : Instead of "The website cannot display the page" error I get the following error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.SqlSessionStateResolver.System.Web.IPartitionResolver.ResolvePartition(Object key) at System.Web.PartitionManager.GetPartition(IPartitionResolver partitionResolver, String id) at System.Web.SessionState.SqlSessionStateStore.GetConnection(String id, Boolean& usePooling) at System.Web.SessionState.SqlSessionStateStore.DoGet(HttpContext context, String id, Boolean getExclusive, Boolean& locked, TimeSpan& lockAge, Object& lockId, SessionStateActions& actionFlags) at System.Web.SessionState.SqlSessionStateStore.GetItemExclusive(HttpContext context, String id, Boolean& locked, TimeSpan& lockAge, Object& lockId, SessionStateActions& actionFlags) at System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule.GetSessionStateItem() at System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule.BeginAcquireState(Object source, EventArgs e, AsyncCallback cb, Object extraData) at System.Web.HttpApplication.AsyncEventExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() at System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) I read on the internet that this error occur because of alternate access mapping but I think I have nothing to do with it. Hi Eagle; Did you want to check your AAM on the web application? Its in Central Admin. You error looks like session state settings might need to be adjusted in your Web.config. I had a problem such as this for a custom web part that was written for 2007 that I had to migrate to 2010. Is there maybe a connection string missing in the web.config in the new web application you created? If you created a new web app and the web part needs access to a SQL database, then you need that connection string in the web config. Or the application pool identity that is running your newly created web app needs permission to the SQL databse (probably the one that was created by the third party IBM solution) Good luck Stefan G

But the problem when I try to install SP2 Language Packages I get a message in arabic which means something like:Nothing was effected... These Language packages I have are for Arabic language and 64 bit.Do I need to install English Language Packages before these or what else I could be missing?I am too late but i will never give up

hmmm weird What is the regional settings of the server? what was sharepoint installed with English? You can try setting up an english US machine (virtual windows 7 or something) that has line of business to the sharepoint web application in question, and see if it can load the pages correctly? It sounds like you are on the right track regarding localization. I havent worked with many different languages and locales but I know the regional settings on the server can influence the installation, and a request from a different locale could cause problems. I had an issue similar to a control that was set to use EN-CA (english canada) and the server was set to EN-US, and hence date controls were affected. I'll check back to see how you're doingStefan G
