Very slow reports with SQL Reporting Services Data Connector for Dynamics CRM 4.0 issue
Hi Pekka,
The report performance issue is always a complex issue. In Reporting Services, there are three processing phases when we view a report: data retrieve, report process and report rendering. According to the Execution Log information, the report performance
on the report manager is rational. Based on my research, you can try to disable third party Add-ons for Internet Explorer (IE) or reset IE to see if it works.
Besides, the issue seems to be more related to the Dynamics CRM, you may get more help about this issue from Dynamics forum:
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/crm/threads
If you have any more questions about SQL Server Reporting Services, please feel free to let me know.

We are running CRM 4 on SQL2008R2 and suddenly all reports are getting very slow when run from crm reportviewer.
I have tested situation as follows:
1) I created a test report (select accountid, name from filteredaccount where statuscode=1) it only shows Name -column, no sorting.. <100 rows...
2) SQL execution takes less than second in sql server management studio
3) I imported this report into CRM reports.. it takes 20 seconds to show ....
4) When I publish this report to external use and run it from ReportManager it takes less than a second.
Excution log from reportserver for same report both reportmanager (first) and inside crm. second. Note timedataretrieval and bytecounts!!! SQL in this test
takes milliseconds.
ItemAction TimeDataRetrieval TimeProcessing TimeRendering ByteCount RowCount
Interactive RPL 63 19
46 7182 73
Interactive HTML4.0 15151 15
40 34272 73
Any ideas what's going on ? And what should we check/do ?
Cheers,
PEKKA

Hi Pekka,
Thanks for your posting.
I have no CRM environment to make a test, but I dont think the TimeDataRetrieval value in the CRM environment is rational. Based on my research, there are two suggestions for your reference:
Update the Internet Explorer or try a third party browser.Update the Reporting Services and CRM. For the updates for SQL Server and Dynamics CRM, please see:
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Builds
Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 updates and hotfixes

Hello Mike,
I've already posted this into Dynamics forums... no answers there. Before closing this issue in Reporting Services forum: can you confirm that data retrieve 63 versus 15151 is rational and is likely to be caused by Dynamics Data Connector ?
Cheers,

We managed to solve this by setting the PreferredDc key to the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM registry hive. This helped and everything is back to normal..Pekka
