Version not changed after installing Cumulative Update

I installed the August Cumulative Update, but the version number didn't update on my system.  The install processed successfully (at least no errors showed up).  How do I confirm the installation?

Thank you.

one quick question, are you using WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007?

Whats the version before you install the August CU(i believe its August 2010)?

here is good article gives your the build number for each updates: http://blogs.technet.com/b/steve_chen/archive/2009/11/11/build-numbers-cube-sheet-for-moss-sharepoint.aspx

hope this will help

thanks

ws,

I'm running MOSS 2007. I installed the hot fix from KB2276472. My current version shows as 12.0.0.6520 when I believe it should be 12.0.6545.5001.  Trying to apply the update again reports that it's already installed.

Thanks!

Curious, did you ever figure this out?  I just applied the June CU and my version still shows 12.0.0.6421 --  this is the first CU I've applied to our WSS 3.0 environment.

This could be a stupid question, but did you run the sharepoint configuration wizzard after the files were deployed to the server?

SamEvans,

Nope, I haven't been able to figure it out.  Any news on your end?

Speltincx Tom,

Yes, thanks for the suggestion.  Everything appears to go without error.  It's too strange.  Thankfully, though, the system itself doesn't appear to be unstable or misbehaving in any way.

Hi Jason!

After installing any update you must to run this command from command line:

psconfig –cmd upgrade –inplace b2b -wait

HI

I have ran the SahrePoint Configuration Wizard and the psconfig command by Jason above buit still the version number is satying the same.

My issue is I have successfully installed the permission reporting template (contained in the SahrePoint Admin Toolkit) and when activating the template through STSADM I get a message saying that I need to install the April CU... I have done this and it still comes up with the same message.

I have ran the SharePoint configuration wizard and the version number is still 12.0.0.6421, I have ran the PSCONFIG command also to upgrade but the version still stays the same…

Please help me!!!

I have the same problem.  I installed a new version of sharepoint with sp2 slipstreamed, and applied CU Feb2011 but the site version stayed.

Ran the wizard no errors reported

Ran psconfig command all completed no errors.

in the case of MOSS, make sure you install both the WSS update AND the MOSS update. Then run the psconfig - this should update the version number.

Friends,

I am also facing the same issue. Please suggest if any one got solution for this.

Activity I did:-

Current Version of Moss Server is 12.0.0.6421. I need to update this version, So I installed cumulative update which was released Aug 28, 2012, from this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2687330.

Successfully done all activity without any error message, I have ran the Configuration Wizard and the psconfig command by Jason above server still shows the same version number.

I restarted the server also. But No Luck..

After doing lots hit and trails. some how i achieved the solution i.e. at least Server Farm version changed.

Approach followed:-

Cumulative updates we should carefully check the server i.e. x32 or x64. If Its x64 we should use x64 WSS and x64 Moss.

But In my scenario it was not working On x64  - I installed  x64 (MOSS) and x32 (WSS).

Version updated successfully and Database Attach and Restore also working successfully  with existing site. If i create new web application or new site collection - it does n't work - throw error can't connect with configuration database.

Its seems like strange issue, Existing sites and central administration working fine.
