Variations

We have created a custom solution called "Web Framework" using SharePoint. In this web framework we have the lists/libraries in the root site collection and would have multiple sub-sites under this root site. Currently we are planning to implement variations in our framework. Since we have all the content in root site collection, we must need to move them to the source variation site in order to configure the propagation jobs to copy the content to target sites.

We would like to know the possibilities of implementing this task without affecting existing deployments. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Felix

Hi Felix,

If you don't want to affect the existing deployments, you may want to try restoring the site collection to another subsite within another site collection, then try to adjust the customization as your requirement, it may be complicate to move your custom solution implementation in new site collection (Note, please test in a test environment firstly), then configure variations for new site collection.
