Hi,
You could try Firestreamer: http://www.cristalink.com/fs/
It's not free but you have 1 month trial.

Strange to answer your own question :-)
I've found an open-source VTL based on Linux
http://www.quadstor.com/virtual-tape-library.html
It's working over iSCSI and therefor the ideal solution for testing backups in a virtual test lab.
Works good!
Hi Olaf,
I am trying to accomplish the same thing as you . I am currently using DPM and would like to virtualize my tapes.
I saw few software but all seems to be Linux based. (besides filestream) . I am looking for a free tool that would accomplish that.
if you are using quadstor. can you give me your feedback on it and also what OS you used to install this software.
Thanks
David
Hi David.
Sadly for you Quadstor is only running on Linux, as written on there homepage.
But after some fiddling the installation was right and it works.
The only hurdle was to find the correct emulated hardware so that DPM could use the tapes and library. To be honest; I forgot which one it was....
