VMM P2V Agent (x64). Installation success or error status: 1603.
Hi there, I've just run out of ideas trying to troubleshoot my issue with installing the P2V agent on a Windows Server 2008 server. I started off trying to do the install using SCE 2010 GUI. This failed and I received a message that said the source server was uncontactable. I rebooted the source server and tried again. This time I got a message indicating there was a problem with the agent on the server and that I needed to reinstall agent. I checked the source server Programs and Features and found no trace of the P2V agent. I checked Windows Services and there is a service for the P2V agent. I tried to start the service and it says it cannot find the file. I checked C:\Program Files and found there was a folder named Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 P2V Agent however only a folder named bin existed within it and no files in the folder bin. I tried to install over the top using the vmmP2Vsource.msi however it says another version of the agent already exists. I have also tried to run the msi with the /uninstall switch with no luck. I expect my problem will be fixed if I can manually remove the partially installed agent but need some advice on how to do so safely. Appreciate any advice you all can provide!

Hello, To create a virtual machine from a physical server in Essentials 2010, the physical computer must already be managed by Essentials 2010. Did you find Essentials agent on the computer?
